Community Connection: i9 Sports

Like most young boys growing up in the 1980s, Matt Baggett began his love for sports early on in his life.  During his elementary and middle school years, Matt’s family faced a few major cross-country moves due to his father’s developing career at State Farm Insurance.  In the midst of those changes, sports was the one thing that remained a consistent part of Matt’s life.  From playing soccer and cheering for the Lakers in sunny California to playing football and rooting for the Cubs in the cold Midwest, Matt enjoyed it all.

Matt believes those early experiences with sports helped shape his mindset and future career as an attorney.   “Team sports teaches many valuable lessons that are just as important off the field as they are during a game.  Perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship – those are all attributes that can play a large part in your success in life.” 

Sportsmanship, in particular, is something Matt is passionate about.  “There is so much more than the thrill and experience of winning to be gained from sports.  Winning and losing are inevitable parts of life, but learning to win with dignity and lose with grace can keep those ups and downs in perspective so that you can stay focused on the long game.”

Matt continues his love of sports and his passion for sportsmanship through coaching.  Since 2015, Matt has coached little league soccer and flag football.  He currently serves as a flag football coach for i9 Sports.  i9 Sports is a national provider of community-based sports leagues that emphasizes sportsmanship skills and values as a key part of its athletic programs.  Baggett Law is a proud local sponsor and community partner of i9 Sports.
